[Background Information]
Excerpt of Dr. Edmund Leunhoek's Secret Societies:
"Actual foes of humanity are few and far between, but those that do emerge in the form of demons, monsters, or what have you must be put down for the sake of mankind. Likewise, men of ill will must often have power wrested from their grasp. The lands of Greece and Persia in antiquity possessed both of these dangers in abundance. And thus, during the expansion of the Hellenic Empire, a sisterhood of warriors and preistesses was founded to hunt down those that would threaten all that Alexander had built. They were called the Hetaerae."
"Tapping the very magicks that empowered their foes and binding it within their bodies, they would restrain and eliminate enemies of the civilized world. A hetaera always passed down her powers to an apprentice, often a daughter, and so the line continued through history, kept strong in women of Greek and Persian mixed heritage, fulfilling the Hellenic ideal. As humanity spread across the globe, so did the domain the Hetaera struggled to protect. Their exploits would fade into myth and legend, left in carvings on the walls of crumbling Mediterranean pillars. With the Age of Reason, they passed out of the eye of the world and only the word 'hetaera' remained. "
"Their enemies were forced to sin in silence as the rational world broke their overt power, and so an ever dwindling force of Hetaerae continued to serve likewise a world that did not know it needed them to this day."
[NOTE]: At this time, Crey Industries knows of the existance of thirty-one members of the Order of Hetaerae. Atleast six are operating in North America. The others are at undetermined locations. They are a tight-knit organization but each operative is capable of working independantly. It is uncertain how they coordinate their movements but they seem well organized. Members are exclusively of Mediterranean descent and exclusively female.
[Pertinent Data]
Subject was most likely trained by her mother since a young age. Father is unknown. Mother is now deceased [see 4/24/1992: Kheldan Sorcerer-Vatican Affair]. Her 'profession' was exposed in a rather public incident on the west coast [see 8/14/2003: Oniwaka Occurrence]. Agent L417 was assigned to surveillance. Subject favors selectively eliminating single, strong supernatural enemies in quiet. With her identity revealed, the subject moved on to Paragon City and began to keep tabs on the 'Circle of Thorns' [Case No. 56], presumably as instructed by her Order.
[Field Agent's Observations]
<L417> She seems to think of herself as some sort of police officer. I gather the rest of the Order indeed acts as a police force against supernatural entities or those not native to our dimension.
She is relentless and well-learned in all things magical. From my observation of her interaction with the other 'hetaera' [Suspect Profile: 15012], she is of relatively low rank and skill with in her organization. Could have fooled me.
Most of her abilities seem to center around disabling and disarming her foes. As I said, she sees herself as some sort of police. However, I've seen her revive and restore a fallen companion to perfect health within a few gestures so her powers are not to be underestimated.
She seems unconcerned with 'mundane' activities like our organization deals in, so for the time, I consider her no threat. She does have particular morals however, so if she were to investigate further into our less-than-legitimate dealings, she might not like what she finds.
**UPDATE** 5/30/05: She knows I've been following her, so I expect to be reassigned shortly. It isn't my fault! I could all of a sudden feel her rifling through my thoughts like a file cabinet. She knows, and she didn't seem happy.
