Subject file 1518: Randomus
UPDATE: Subject has not been seen in the city for several weeks now. Investigations underway.
Randomus is a very strange subject. Thus far we have been unable to determine if he is clinically insane, a genius, or both.
Subject appears to be possessed of a goofy, almost idiotic countenance. However, a closer look at media archives from the Rikti invasion period reveal that he is not only a formidable force in combat, but also a brilliant tactical mind. As the leader of his home city's heroes during the Rikti invasion, he veritably decimated the alien forces with his strategy, and constantly rallied his troops with a seemingly unending well of charisma. Given enough time for observation, it appears that Randomus is able to overcome almost any obstacle.
On the other hand, subject has been repeatedly observed talking to himself, and even engaging in heated arguments, though only in private. This is a sign of either dementia or possession of some type. Only further investigation will reveal the truth behind this quirk.
Update: Further research has revealed that subject's robotic arm is possessed by the spirit of an ancient Samurai warrior, who also appears to be the source of many of his tactical ideas. We will have to look into this matter and see how we can use it to our advantage.
Subject is constantly using wisecracks to throw his enemies off balance or distract them, often giving him the upper hand in combat. Be advised that Randomus seems to have no qualms with "fighting dirty", and has even kicked several agents in the "mean bean machine". Agents also reported "extreme annoyance" with his banter, so much so that they were unable to concentrate. Even though he doesn't bother fighting "honourably" as many heroes do, subject does seem to have an aversion to killing. Randomus has been observed maiming and crippling thugs, gangster and villains, but has never actually made a killing blow. Also noteworthy is that Randomus will never strike the first blow against a human opponent; if he is able to talk them down, he will refrain from violence.
Update: Now armed with an extremely long-ranged sniper shot attack, Randomus no longer appears to have any problem with shooting villains in the back. Watch yours, agents. Subject's brutality has also increased in recent days, cause unknown.
Update 2: Subject recently gave a Crey medice a savage beating. Once the medic was down, Randomus stole his healing device. Subject now possess the ability to heal his allies, and himself. Combined with his investigations into the fate of Dr. Friedkin, the Devouring Earth and his handy defeat of Hopkins, we can assume Randomus now knows all about our dealings. Suggest putting cover-up operations in high gear, as a hero with his kind of media exposure can really damage us.
Subject's powers seem to stem from a metallic gauntlet that appears to have been fused to his right forearm. Origin of his gauntlet and powers are unknown; from what we've learned, he was a frail philosophy teacher one day, and the next he showed up with enhanced musculature and this mysterious gauntlet. A Science origin is strongly suspected.
Update: Suspicions confirmed. Subject was involved in an accident at his school's science lab after hours. Timeline places Dr. Vahzilok in that particular area during the period of transition between teacher and hero for Randomus. Possible connection there? This could explain his animosity towards the Vahzilok faction, as he has battled Dr. Vahzilok four times now.
Powers include a forcefield that has been described as "psychadelic", and a powerful beam of bright, multicoloured energy. Forcefield is moderately durable, but more useful in that it obscures subject's actual location with its brightness and shifting colours. Power blast has been observed to punch through cinder block walls and, aimed correctly, destroy entire buildings in one to three shots. Subject rarely uses his full power. It is uncertain if this is because he doesn't want to hurt people too badly, or simply because he doesn't have that level of control.
Subject's accuracy is also noteworthy, though not superhuman. He is able to aim his blasts to do the most possible damage; appears to have a good working knowledge of pressure points. His exceptional tactical abilities and charisma are also not superhuman, but are in the top 1% of anything that we've seen in quite some time.
Threat assessment: High.
This is a textbook case of how deceiving appearances can be. Do not be fooled by his antics. This is a dangerous individual, more because of his mind than his powers. With his increasing brutality, evidence of multiple personalities at work and a team of powerful heroes under his command, subject's threat rating has been upgraded to a solid 'High'.
