Subject is on record as a retired US Marshal, heavily decorated in the line of service. Official reports are sketchy, but it is indicated that Allen was captured while tracking down a small time jewelry smuggler. Somehow in the course of these events, Allen was coated in melted gold, presumably in an attempt to kill him and dispose of his abnormally large body. Very little information exists as to subsequent events.
Research indicates that the thieves were involved in melting down stolen artifacts in order to more easily sell them on the black market. One plausible theory forwarded from Analysis suggests that the artifacts were in fact magical, and that Allen was infused with their power upon being coated in their molten remains. Despite some speculation as to mutant powers, medical history indicates that the magical theory is the most probable given the current state of information.
Threat level: due to the uncertainty regarding the origin of the aforementioned relics, and Allen's innate connection with this power, threat potential cannot be accurately estimated. As of now, he is of a moderate power level, but future developments may change this.
