Crey Industries Confidential Reports SUBSYSTEM V4.02c
File No. BQ-1190.v3.r2

REQUEST FOR DATA: METAHUMAN SURVEILLANCE/SOURCE&DEMOGR.ANALYSIS

THIS IS A CONFIDENTIAL DOCUMENT. DO NOT REMOVE FROM SECURED FILE OR DISTRIBUTE VIA ELECTRONIC MEANS W/O G-3 APPROVAL.

  • File Entry No. MR-000: Scout teams have reported the ingress of a new hero into monitored divisions of Paragon City. Subject is described as completely green with spiky protrusions on head and arms. Preliminary research of the hero database has found a matching profile under the title "Cactus Man". Subject dossier has been opened under file number 3133, and subject's name has been submitted to the investigation department for further review.

  • File Entry No. MR-001: Investigation department review completed. Subject's true name is Emil Garousa, registered as a hero in Paragon City. Last known employment was at a botany research laboratory in Needles, California. Records indicate he abandoned his position and disappeared from the area over six months ago following a possible accident. Two police reports from the vicinity reference a green man seen wandering the area known as the Mohave Valley by backpackers, but no contact was ever made. Recommend full surveillance and sample procurement if possible. The genetics unit of R&D has flagged this file due to the nature of research into cacti DNA being performed by the Needles facility.

  • File Entry No. MR-002: Surveillance proceeds well. Made contact with subject on first day posing as a fan seeking an autograph. Hero was friendly, but was distracted by a petty crime taking place down the street. Seems to take his role as hero very seriously, but is also mirthful at times in conversation. Subject's combat style stems from the natural weapons he possesses in the form of spines that grow from his body, which he uses to quickly dispatch opponents in an efficient manner. Our operatives have also noted that his spines possess an unusual neuro-toxin that, despite our best efforts, cannot be identified. It is believed that the toxins in the spines may be a result of interaction between the radiation exposure subject received in the Needles experiment and the 'junk' DNA that Crey Industries believes is the key to superhuman powers and abilities. Subject also recovers rapidly from all injuries received. Was successful at retrieving an expended spine after one conflict and have submitted it to R&D for examination. Hero was also observed pausing frequently while traveling from one place to another and changing directions without warning. It is the opinion of this operative that the subject may have a poor sense of direction and easily gets turned around or lost. After one week, this operative has reached the conclusion that the hero could pose a threat to Crey Industries in the near future. The current path of his missions and actions could take him into direct conflict with our agents within the next couple of months. Recommend instigating the standard procedures for dealing with potential threats.

  • File Entry No. MR-003: Subject sample examination follow up. The genetics lab has confirmed that the subject's molecular structure has been melded with a mutated form of saguaro cactus DNA. It is unknown how the subject survived such a procedure, but experiments are underway to recreate the effect. Of particular interest, the report from R&D theorizes that by fleeing into the desert, the subject may have unexpectedly provided an additional boost to his change, since he appears to have the ability of photosynthesis; i.e. subject has never been observed drinking water. By going into the desert of Death Valley in an attempt to 'hide' what he had become, subject may have instead accelerated his change by exposing himself to the bright, cloudless sky that kills most living things without hydration in 48 hours. Indeed the solar exposure there is deadly, but apparently it aided his body in coping and adapting rapidly to the changes from the radiation exposure and mutated DNA. Request more samples be procured when possible. Also recommend acquiring an interest in the botany lab in Needles. Experimentation can be performed there in the near future.

  • Note: Changes to the Crey threat information database require all new updates must be submitted as separate surveillance reports from this point forward.
