Maynard Otts worked in one of Paragon city’s more popular comic book shops. A lad of remarkable girth, his wide eyed fan boyism and love for his job made him a decent, hardworking employee. He enjoyed the days when one of the many super powered residents would stop by the shop, sometimes for a book signing tour or even to pick up illustrated copies of their latest adventures.
When the Ritiki invasion occurred, the comic book shop (located in Boomtown) was destroyed. Maynard was left with no job and no direction.
But then the call went out for super heroes and Maynard knew what he had to do. He went on the Subway diet and with his mothers help (an ex-Crey employee – still classified) he built an energy powered bee suit and a handful of devices to help him fight crime.
The Bumbling Bee, being quite youthful in mannerisms, is still learning how to control his powers. His frequent power blast misses have caused some minor property damage and a few slight personal injuries. The recent addition of “Portable Stingers” (caltrops) to his arsenal has made him more of a danger to himself than to any of the lower leveled villains he currently fights.
