Michael Aloysius Donovan was born in Kings Row. Police records show that he had a large list of misdemeanors under his belt up until age 18, when he joined a travelling stunt show. This show also happened to tour Paragon in the week prior to the Rikti invasion. In fact, Donovan was in mid performance when the invasion struck. During the confusion, Donovan's life was saved by the veteran speedster The Dueling Dervish (see McCoy, William Allen). It is believed that the debt Donovan believed he owed McCoy led him to take up the mantle of The Dueling Dervish when McCoy was injured.
Donovan posseses no super powers like his predicessor did. However, he is an incredibly skilled hand to hand fighter, using a combination of street fighting, martial arts, and acrobatics. His irrevelent humor tends to lighten the spirits of the heroes around him. Furthermore, it should be noted that he seems to take particular joy in disrupting Crey activities. If encountered, agents are authorized to terminate on sight.
Update: Recently Donovan lost an eye to a Malta ambush (See: Donovan Contract; Malta, Gentlemen of). Suprisingly, this has not seemed to impede him much in crime fighting. It is possible Donovan is a metahuman without realizing it.
