CORPORATE DESIGNATION: Generation 8 Protector Archetype 01
The subject now known as 8Man is in reality an Archetype for a new breed of Protector. Seeing too many clones of dead heroes wasted in conflict with this new breed of "hero", we have been working on a new Android Protector who is stronger, faster, and not limited by human morality. When we discovered the subject, it was in quite a state of disrepair, having suffered massive battle damage. Our covert recovery team recovered what they could of its chassis, and returned it to us here in Paragon City. Our AI Team got to work on him immediately. Rebuilding and reprogramming his memory unit and CPU. What we did not realize was, there is human tissue integrated into the CPU itself! We hadn't realized all through testing that he was indeed sentient. But when we sent him on a series of assignments against the Rikti, he was apparently damaged in combat and re-awakened his human side. When that happened, he turned on the Crey Operatives sent to assist his mission, and disappeared. A failsafe was activated to trigger a self-destruct mechanism. We had thought the situation resolved, until now. 8Man has resurfaced, taking on Hero responsibilities in Paragon City. It seems that his human side and adaptive AI found a way to foil the SD program. Since he is in the public eye now, it might not be prudent to eliminate him overtly. With his Assassination Protocols, he will require constant surveillance, however.
